Current Information:Age-25 Born-Mile End Agny Military Cemetery, France 9th Rifle Brigade were part of 42 Brigade, 14th Division which had been holding the line near Arras since March 1916. Timothy Flynn was killed in action on 9th May, 1916, but as yet there is no information as to when and where he was killed. However the Battalion Diary, once consulted, should be more revealing. The attrition rate among British soldiers on the Western Front was on average 300 each day. When not involved in an actual battle it was either shell fire or a sniper’s bullet that caused the vast majority of deaths and injuries. |
